Friday, August 27, 2010 Page 1 of 1 October 9, 1972 follows MEMORANDUM FOR $ RAY PRICE FROM I H.R. HALDEMAN The President has totally rejected the two letter drafts to Members of Congress, insumbent and non-incumbent. He makes the point that the letter should be briefer, more pre- else, shorter sentences. He feels the two draft letters attached are ulterly terrible and suggests something along the following lines: "As you enter the final stages of your campaign, I want you to know Numb I realine how challenging se is as 1 recall my first race for Congress. We need people of your dedication and ability, and I wish you well." I don't think he's really thought this one through, but he does feel that it should be done more tightly than the attached drafts.
