Handwritten note added on original by Higby. 1 pg. Monday, November 29, 2010 Page 1 of 1 ADMINISTRATIVELY CONFIDENTIAL MEMORANDUM THE WHITE HOUSE chron WASHINGTON March 6, 1973 FOR: H. R. HALDEMAN FROM: KEN KHACHIGIAN On SUBJECT: POLITICAL RESEARCH - RNC The Political Research Division at the Republican National Committee has been cut in half I have been told. It is my impression that this has been done while other divisions over there retain full staff. The cut in the research department directly hinders our ability to get basic opposition research to use in a number of projects. This effect has already been felt in one project I was asked to do and which RNC was unable to be complete with the customary thoroughness due to the lack of staff and the higher demands on their current facilities. Our facilities here can not compare at all with those of the RNC, and since more of that work must be done at RNC, it seems to me that they should have the staff to do it. Looking ahead, Iwould think that in the next few months we might begin to think about encouraging RNC to gear up the opposition research apparatus for the 1974 mid-term elections. This type of foresight is what put us in such excellent position for the Presidential election, and we might want to be thinking about it now. Bruce- Ken'z point is valid What are ? C
