WASHINGTON
Dear Julie,
I don't know what to do with this
if anything. It appears that the
Republican National Committee was
to pick up the tab, but have
passed it back to David. I shall
be happy to clarify the matter
if you can give me some guidance
on it.
Thank you,
Gwen

Dear Mr. Odell:
Enclosed are copies of hotel bills for David Eisenhower and
Robert Atheny from October 12 and 13 of 1970.
Mr. Atheny signed these bills instructing us to forward the
charges to your attention. It is now over 4 months since we
mailed these bills and have had no response.
Would you please advise why we have not received payment if
there is something wrong, otherwise may we have your check for
$446.74 by return mail.
Thank you for your anticipated cooperation.

MEMORANDUM FOR:
THE HONORABLE JOHN N. MITCHELL
THE ATTORNEY GENERAL
FROM:
H. R. HALDEMAN
SUBJECT:
Lee Nunn
I have just been advised that Lee Nunn is resigning as
Director of the Republican Senatorial Campaign Committee.
Lee is considered by many to be a cold fish, as you doubtless
know. He is a plodder and probably doesn't impress too many
people with his outward appearance. The fact is, however,
that Lee knows where the money is. He is a tiger who digs in
tenaciously -- methodically going through the thousands of
names each year, and he has been enormously effective in
raising money in good times and bad.
I understand Lee has no idea what he is going to do. He
probably should be brought under our wing because the
information that he possesses in his head could be enormously
valuable. He could be a key figure in our campaign finance
operation. It would be better for us to get our hands on him
than to have him go either to the RNC or to a group of Senators --
the latter is apparently his present thinking.
Nunn is resigning, by the way, because he feels that Dominick
is a very weak campaign committee chairman, or at least so
he says. Obviously there is some problem between Dominick
and Nunn.

Enclosed is a check from the Reader's
Digest Association for $500. This amount
is equal to the payment I was to receive for
a reprint of a personal article in their publica-
tion. However, because of my current position,
I am not able to accept a payment of this sort.
The magazine consented to donate this sum to
the foundation.
Sincerely,

MEMORANDUM FOR:
FROM:
H. R. HALDEMAN
SUBJECT:
Political Liaison
Now that the RNC has been reorganized, we are transferring
as many political activities as possible there. Only essential
White House functions in the political area, such as answering
mail, receiving telephone calls, and doing the routine political
liaison required will be performed at the White House.
Handling these duties, as in the past, will be Harry Dent and
his staff. When questions arise as to the political situation
in a given state or area, it will be Dent's responsibility to
provide the answers for the President and the White House
staff. His office will supply advice or information whenever
political considerations could affect some decision.
There should be no White House political activities except
those generally outlined above.
