MEMORANDUM FOR:
STEVE BULL
FROM:
BRUCE KEHRLI
SUBJECT:
Eisenhower Silver Dollars
We've come to the crunch on the Eisenhower Silver Dollars.
Would you please forward twelve (12) of the dollars with
the new cases. These are the $10 editions encased in
plastic with the brown cardboard covers with the
Presidential seal.
Could we have these by the close of business on Thursday.
Thank you.

SUBJECT:
Films for Camp David
While trying to come up with some good foreign films for
viewing at Camp David, we were directed to the Janus Film
Company in New York. They have the rights to most of the
Bergman films and were good enough to provide us with a
couple of them for the weekend when the economic decisions
were made. Although they were not reviewed and they had to
be returned immediately, Mr. Saul J. Turell (who characterizes
himself as a New York Jewish liberal for Nixon) sent the
attached catalogue of films.
You might want to look at it sometime at your convenience
and pick out any films you would like to see.
The big advantage with these films is that they are all in
16mm and it normally takes anywhere from three to four
months and sometimes longer before the latest releases
are done in anything but 35mm.

Comments on the R. D. C. Film
1. General Comments - it seems to me that if you
want to get people keyed up to work towards a goal you show
them (1) what they can do in order to get there, and (2) what
they can expect once they get there (in this case, in the
form of Presidential leadership and the results of the
President's proposed programs). You don't need to keep
showing them what they look like.
2. Also if we want them to do something, let's
say so, The film never answers the question - what can I do
to help?
3. Although some of the photography is beautiful,
it is too disjointed - jumps back and forth. I thought it
was going to end about three times during the performance.
4. The why we need you to help" pitch was not
strong enough. Obviously we don't need to portray all Demo-
crats as bumbling idiots, but we might make the President's
attributes a little stronger.
5. It is good to show the Republican party with a
sense of humor, however I think that the Superman, Seudo-
Laugh-In sections are not the way to do it.
6. We need more film of the President - after all,
who are these people supposed to be getting geared up to work
for. You get them excited by showing them the man, not them-
selves.
-2-
7. The segment on the Italian kid returning to
his old neighborhood was good. How about some of the other
things that the President has done or is expected to do -
i.e., trip to China, economic moves, etc.
Generally, I would recommend against using this film.
