MEMORANDUM FOR:
THE STAFF SECRETARY
FROM:
CHARLES COLSON
SUBJECT:
P-1858 -- Sindlinger
Request
It was requested in Presidential Action Memorandum P-1858, taken
from the September 22 News Summary to advise the President when
we are going to follow up on his suggestion to get a direct contact
with Sindlinger.
Response
Paul McCracken has had an ongoing professional relationship with
Sindlinger and at my request had him to lunch last week in the White
House. Paul will invite him down again in the next 2 weeks for
another lunch at which I will be invited, hopefully to begin to develop
a political as well as professional relationship.
McCracken reports that Sindlinger is favorably disposed to us, he
is probably a Republican and generally would like to be helpful. He
doesn't take commercial work under normal circumstances. I will
explore whatever unusual circumstances there are.
We are also including Sindlinger on the October 10 church service
guest list as an opening device for what we hope will be closer
cultivation.
