Wednesday, June 03, 2015 Page 1 of 1 Sover a THE WHITE HOUSE WASHINGTON July 31, 1972 MEMORANDUM FOR: PAT BUCHANAN FROM: KEN KHACHIGIAN Take a quick look at the attached. It is perfect: J.K. Galbraith suggesting that there will have to be new taxes in 1974. This should be able to get some headlines like: "Major McGovern Adviser Wants Tax Increase. " Can we get this to Rinfret and generally out to our spokesmen? One of the best ways to offset our weak link on taxes is to make the opposition's link even weaker. Tying higher taxes around McGovern's neck now will make things easier in the fall. He can't squirm out of this one -- Galbraith is one of his pre-eminent advisers and we could expect higher taxes in a McGovern Administration.
