They are as follows:\n1) NBC news was caught bugging Democratic\nmeeting room during the 1968 Convention in Chicago.\nThey were caught red-handed, admitted they had done\nit, but there was no real follow-up or prosecution on\nthis issue.\n2) Jack Anderson was caught slipping a bug\ninto the hearing room during the Sherman Adams hearings.\nHe also was caught red-handed and could not dispute\nit but again he was never prosecuted.\n3) Joe Raugh and Al Friendly of the Washington\nPost paid many thousands of dollars to a fellow by the\nname of Paul Hughs. Hughs was spposedly a spy in Joe\nMcCarthy's camp and the Washington Post was paying him\nexorbitant amounts of money to obtain information on\nMcCarthy. Apparently this was well documented in\nFreeman Magazine in the early '50s. This was the pre-\ndecessor to National Review.\nEven if we don't use this information at this time it\nwould be good to have someone, now that we've got the\nresources, to research this and have it available. I\nwould think the best line to take in this whole area\nwould be that the present activities are just an exten-\n2.\nsion of what we would call, during the campaign, \"the\ndirtiest campaign in history.\" The Democrats are\nresponsible for this dirty campaign; they were using\nexorbitant tactics to try to get to the President and\nthey are just continuing these innuendos and hearsay\nin order to discredit the President who won by a\nmassive landslide.\nDepending on what is done with the information you are\nputting together, we can continue to use it through\npeople like Bush, Colson, etc. so I really think\nyou're doing a valuable job there for future use.\nDick-\nW.
