THE WHITE HOUSE
WASHINGTON
April 12. 1972
MEMORANDUM FOR:
RON ZIEGLER
HARRY DENT
FROM:
DICK COOK
Ti
SUBJECT:
Congressman A1 Johnson (R-Pa.)
In the next two weeks White House staff friends of Richard McCormack
(formerly of W.H. Staff) may try to elicit a statement undercutting the
President's continued high regard for Congressman Al Johnson of
Pennsylvania (see attached).
In view of Al's very high support index on key votes (90%), I would hope
we will do nothing to further Dick McCormack's ambitions, inasmuch as
he already has left the impression during the current primary campaign
that he sits at the President's right hand.
Many thanks.
