Miss Rose Mary Woods
Personal Secretary to President Nixon
The White House. Washington, D. C.
Dear Miss Woods.
want
We are extremely delighted over President Nixon's greatest
overwhelming Victory in the history of United States politics.
With the exception of taking off four days to enter the hospital for
blood transfusions, I labored for President Nixon until November 6th.
Two aggravations marred my enthusiasm slightly. First. both
my Mother and I have donated financially to the campaign, long before
the G.O.P. Convention met. Then two weeks before the election. we
each received letters signed by Mr. Stans that all who contribute $15.00 or more
will receive an "Official 1972 Presidential Campaign Medal", bronze.
We feel this in unfair to us who have contributed when the finances
were needed the most.
Second: In an appeal for money in a letter signed by Mr. Jeremiah
Milbank. Jr. he promised all people regardless whether they contribute
or merely send a letter that they will work in the campaign, he will mail
them a G.O.P elephant pin. As far as I know, no one has received said
pin.
We managed to abtain three G.O.P. elephant pins, when people
who worked in the campaign (volunteers) saw the pin, they requested that I
give them one, SO I did I know of 12 of my co-workers, all volunteers
who deserve such a pin headquarters employee told me I would have to
Page 2
pay for the pins. I refused to spend any more money. What irks me the
most, is that the rich, paid G.O.P. employees lied each and every time
that I either visited one of the headquarters or called one of them.
They were always out of meaningful campaign material: President
Nixon photograph badges, G.O.P. elephant pins, ball-point pens, Nixon-
Agnew photograph badges, plates or platters, playing cards, 1968-1972
(set of two) bronze medallions, plastics, etc.
They claimed that they received only a few of each - they did not
know where all the material disappeared - a lack of communications
between Dade County and Washington, D. C. The truth is these rich and
paid G.O.P. employees engaged in a mass theft of above mentioned materials.
I have seen them stuffing their pockets, handbags with expensive campaign
materials. On November 6th I walked into one of the headquarters while
a lone W man employee was stuffing a large box with the mentioned
campaign
G.O.P. materials, she calmly carried the box out to her expensive sports
car and placed the box in the trunk of the car.
In view of the text of this letter, you do not have my permission to
use my name in the event that you should want to follow up on my complaints.
I cannot afford to make any enemies.
You can be assured of our continued support. God bless you.
Sincerely,
(Sg.) Ted Manell
