I apologize\nfor beging so dumb. I guess I had the financial jitters.\nHOWEVER, since I believe in the President and everything he says,\nI went to the State Unemployment Office with my veteran's preference, and\ncome March 15,1 will be a lumber yard guard up the line a piece.\nDo I feel degraded? Hell No. I'm very grateful for a job to piece out\nmy income. (Didm't the President say something during the campaign\nabout the person with the bed pan being just as important, in his or her way,\nas the bank president? I agree.)\nI have done another one of my surveys. These are the highlights:\n1-Middle Americans, the wealthy, veryone except the activists, the\nspecial pleaders, the hippies and the nuts, are more solidle behind the\nPresident than the last time I checked. They were all for him then but\nnow they are more vocal.\nThis appears to be attributable to two circumstances: the manner\n+\nin which he is getting the POWS home, and an increasing show of toughness\non all problems.\nMORE\n2\nI wept when I heard on TV that a prisoner had phoned the President\nfrom Manila and said, \"That God for America and thank God for President\nNixon. \"What a wonderful reaction from a prisoner who had fought for\nme and for my country.\nAs I write this, the Sudan business is still going on. The\nPresident's statement that neither he nor the country will be\n\"blackmailed\" is right on the beam.\nI have been close to many Presidents in my time. None has had so\nS\nmany problems, SU much gutd and so good a head as the incumbent for which\nthank God and him.\n2-All of us are worried about a kind sized depression. And none\nblame the President. We have all been on a sort\nof \"Fly Now,\nPay Later\" binge. Easy credit has been rampant. We have to pay the\nprice, and we will. The British call it muddle through. The people to whom\n&\n$ have talked are all set to do such rather than run the risk of\ninflation;\nEnd of survey.\nI'm worried about the political situation in California. I\ndon't mean Reagan's strong support of the President. The proposed shut\ndown of State Mental institutions, with a hefty State surplus, comes across\nvery badly.\nThe Lieutenant Governor lacks exposure and performance. of\ncourse, this is not unusual. It happened to Butch Powers, Goodie Knight\nand Bob Finch. The real danger is young Brown is making knots, and at his\nbest, he is worse than his father ,Pat.\nMORE\n---3---\nThe only hope, as I see it,is that the Republicans unit behind\nthe Attorney General, who has a good track record and is solid in the\nvoters mind.\nJoe Alioto, while I like him personally, is obviously all talk, and as\nineffective as the Mayor of New York.\nI'm afraid the Governor has little on his mind but the Presidency.\nThough for now.\nYou thought it wise to show the President my last letter, and as\nyou know, he wrote me a personal note of thanks. If you are so minded\nwith this opus, please do it.\nMy very best to the President, to you and all of you at the White\nHouse\nwho are working so hard and so well for all of us.\nSincerely,\nClint\nClint Mosher\n7397 Boris Court,\nRohnert Park, is 94928\ninkocher\nNov 1, ,1973\nDear Rose,\nAS you know because your or one of your staff typed it, the boss\nsent me a very kind note on October 2 about a tape I did for Radio Station\nKTOB on Presidents I have known, and how Richard Nixon is far and away\nthe ablest, the smartest, the best disciplined and most effective President\nwe have had certainly in this century.\nWithout any suggestion of mine, the station manager sent the boss the\ntape. It was so very thoughtful of him to take time out of what must\nbe a horrible schedule to thank me.\nHe never has to thank me for doing anything for him and for my\ncountry, but I certainly appreciated and will always appreciate a word\nfrom him or any of you good folks.\nI may be 70 years old but I will speak in\npraise\nand\nappreciation\nof the President until there is no more breath left in me. I will\nalso, when I deem it necessary, continue to bumb anyone on the chin who\nmakes a vulgar remark about the boss. So far, I'm in excellent physical\nshape, and I'm not going around starting fistfrights unnecessarily but\nthere is a limit to all things I cannot stand anyone, brain washed by\nthe media, written and electronic, bad mouthing the present President or\nany other President. To me, this is the height of unAmericanism.\nRese, I took a day off from work today--I'm working with a landscape\nerew from & Sants Resa nursery, and had lunch with the best informed and\nhighest ranking national Democrat: I know. You, of course, can guess who\nhe is.\nMORE\nRose Mary Woods\n2\nHe is as outraged at the treatment being given the President as I am.\nHe told me two bits of information--not gossip--which I pass on to you.\nTo keep peace in the family,I guess the first one should be for your\neyes only. And perhaps you and the President are familiar with the\nsecond piece of information.\nHere they are:\n1-At a recent meeing of the directors of COMSAT which my friend\nattended, and before Agnew was indicted, Melvin Laird, laughing and joking,\nsaid the Vice-President was sure to be indicted and would have to quit.\nBitter old Meany joined in with some dispanging remarks and gutter\nlanguage. My friend was horrified. There is certainly nothing funny\nabout Agnew's problems brought on as they were by Government stool\npigeons singing for their dinner, as the police saying goes.\n2-When the boss' predecessor was Vice-President and the Bobby Baker\nbusiness was heating up, there was streng--very streng--sentiment in the\nSenate for creation of a select committee to inquire into the relation-\nship between LBJ and Baker.\nand who stopped it? None other than the hypoeritical, Bible thumping\nchairman of the Watergate Committee. How about that?\nRose, You and the Boss and Pat have been treated as badly as any\nthree I have known of low or high estate, but the wheel will turn because\nthe people want it to. So be of good cheer and hang in there.\nI wish I could think of a feelpreef presequre to accomplish this but\nin the meantime, will you put the attached letter on the President's desk,\nand I'll continue to do my best out here im Northern California?\nThanks,my friend, and the very best of everything.
