As you will note from the typed copy of this letter from him - he seems to feel he has known them before. However, he thought he had met me too and I do not remember him at all. Me is a nice young man - about 40ish - but I would guess has maybe had a breakdown or some illness. Would you please prepare a brief, polite but not too warm note from Mrs. Nixon because I BELIEVE THIS fellow is going to be coming to Washington later and we don't want to get stuck with him. (I did not tell her about his coming, etc. --- but I do think we should not be too warn in thanking him). I would appreciate your sending the gifts on up to her as I said I would do.
