THE WHITE HOUSE
WASHINGTON
June 30, 1972
MEMORANDUM FOR:
BOB FINCH
FROM:
CHARLES COLSON
The legalization of marijuana is now on the ballot in California,
Do you feel there is merit in putting the President strongly on
record while in California against legalization once again and
is this an issue that you feel you could hit in speeches in
California? On the downside of this one is the fact that it
probably will bring a lot of young people out to vote, but it
can be argued that they will come out anyway. On the upside,
Nofziger believes the initiative will be soundly defeated and
the candidates opposed will gain politically.
