Mr. Robert J. X Murphy, Jr.

1625 K Street, N. W.
Washington, D. C. 20006
Dear Mr. Murphy:
I very much appreciate your telephone calls and letter.
I am sorry that it was necessary for me to go west with the President-
elect at the time that we hoped to get together.
I have read with interest the Discover America material,
and I have forwarded it for Mr. Nixon's attention.
It looks as though I will be in New York until very close to
inauguration time, but once we get settled there, I would like to have
an opportunity to visit with you at length.
Thank you for your kind offer of assistance.
Yours sincerely,
John D. Ehrlichman

Counsel to the President
The White House

Dear John:
We have been successful in staging a memorable celebration
in honor of the President of the United States--a celebration
that has been shared by the millions of Americans he has vowed
to lead "Forward Together." You can be proud of the important
personal role which you performed for that historic occasion as
Liaison for the President.
All of your associates on the Inaugural Committee, including
Executive Director Robert X McCune and myself, are proud to have
worked with you.
I am sure that the President and the Vice President, in whose
honor you served so untiringly, join in our sincere congratulations
on a job well done.
Sincerely,
Pure
