MEMORANDUM FOR JOHN EHRLICHMAN
FROM:
SALLYANNE PAYTON
RE:
STANFORD LAW SCHOOL
X
Have you seen the enclosed Board of Visitors report?
If you are thinking of giving to the school this year, may I
encourage you to earmark your contribution for the Wilson F. Halley
Fund. Wilson was a classmate of mine who left law school after the
second year in order to command an infantry troop in Vietnam, where
he was killed in action on the day before Thanksgiving 1968.
The Fund was initiated by his parents and friends, and will become
an endowment if we can raise $10,000 in ten years. The scholarship
made possible by the Fund is designated for a minority student.
News from the Stanford front is that all is well. I understand
that the Stanford Club here is thinking of having a gala reception for
Mr. Justice Rehnquist.

Dear John:
Just a note to say that we appreciate
greatly your contribution to last night's
reception and gift for Paul McCracken. From
the comments, the party was enjoyed by all.
Incidentally, the gift was a Revere silver
bowl, on which the message I read at the
party will be engraved.
Again, thank you for your part in this
expression of appreciation to Paul.
Sincerely,
Heak
