WASHINGTON 98201 258-5001 AREA CODE 206 June February 9, 1972 Personal Mr. John D. Ehrlichman Assistant to the President for Domestic Affairs The White House Washington, D. C. 20500 Dear John: X We are most optimistic that Stu Bledsoe will be the next Congressman from the Tri-City area. However, we have a situation in Tom Pelly's seat about which I hope to be able to talk to you. I have been a long-time friend of Bill Boeing. Bill wants to run for Tom XPelly's spot. He is in the position to put a fine team together, and he should have no trouble raising financial support. I need to talk to you personally as to whether or not the White House is going to become involved in that race. I should like to know whether or not you will be able to help Bill; whether or not you have any understanding or commitments which would have a negative influence on Bill running for Congress, etc. This is a serious enough question in my mind to warrant my coming to Washington, D. C. if I could have some time with you. Or, how about talking to Bill Boeing directly? His telephone number is (206) Mu 2-7760. I have the impression from prior discussions with Bill that he feels not too welcome. Thus, this letter and some of the points that I raise therein. In any event, I am hopeful that you and I can have some dialogue on the matter at your earliest convenience. Sincerely, See (FREWED MAR22 CENTRAL HILLS GENERAL 2 Boo FG6-11-1 EHRLICHMAN, JOHN Dr FG6-11-1/Hulhis, Tod R. February 18, 1972 Dear Mark: Many thanks for your note of February 15 regarding the possibility of an appointment with John Ehrlichman. During the next few weeks, Mr. Ehrliehman has several speaking engagements, in addition to his daily meetings and appointments. I would be most willing to meet with you in Mr. Ehrlichman's behalf and have set aside 11-11:30 on Tuesday, February 29 for our meeting. If this is not convenient for you, please let me know. I'm sorry Mr. Ehrlichman's schedule will not permit a meeting; however, I look forward to seeing you then. Sincerely yours, Tod R. Hullin Administrative Assistant to John D. Ehrlichman X Mr. Mark E. Fischer 2 EHRLICHMAN, JOHN D. 17* Bau FISCHER, JACK January 12, 1972 STEINMETZ, Bill Dear Mr. Fischer: John Ehrlichman has asked me to reply to your letter of January 2 indicating that you would like to meet with him at some future date. Because Mr. Ehrlichman's schedule is dependent on the President's schedule, it is difficult to set a definite time for an appointment. If you will let us know where you can be reached, we will be back in touch with you to arrange a mutually convenient time. Sincerely yours, Tod R. Mullin Administrative Assistant to John D. Ehrlichman t Mr. Mark Fischer 352 Dalehurst Avenue Los Angeles, California 90024 TRH:JLH:jlh DENIKA JAN 6 1972 January 2, 1972 Dear Mr. Erlichman, During the recent holiday season, my father, Jack Fischer and a friend of his, Bill Steinmetz, met at a party and during the course of their conversation, men- tioned that you had all been frat brothers in the Kappa Sigma fraternity house at U.C.L.A. Both have urged that I write you (as I attend college at Georgetown University in Washington) in the hope that I could meet you. Ever since President Nixon was elected in 1968, I have noticed how prominently you have figured in all White House staff matters and with the President's re-election pretty much a certainty at this point, I should like very much to meet a man who is so close to the present and future President of the United States. Thank you very much for any help in this matter as I realize how busy a Presidential aide is. Sincerely, mark Fescher of GENERAL PL February 23, 1972 Dear Claude: Many thanks for your note of the 17th. It was good to have a brief visit with you last month. I have forwarded a copy of your letter on to Maury Stans and hopefully he will be in touch with you in the not too distant future. We appreciate your kind offer. Best personal regards. He's raring to go! FEB 22 1972 CLAUDE BEKINS AURORA AT NORTH 95TH SEATTLE. WASHINGTON 98103 February 17, 1972 Dear John, Yesterday Margaret and I arrived back in Seattle after a most delightful stay in Palm Desert. I did see Nat Rogers while I was there and passed on your message ("keep those letters coming"). It is surprising how many Seattle people spend time in Palm Springs and Palm Desert. It is understandable really because the weather, as a general rule, is lovely and those interested in golf can actually play every day. I noticed in the press that both Maurice Stans and Attorney General John N. Mitchell have now resigned from the President's Cabinet. Perhaps one of these days I will be hearing from one or the other of them. John, I appreciated it very much the fifteen or twenty minutes I had with you on January 21st, and I hope it will not be too long before our paths cross again. With the President's departure to China (hav- ing taken place this morning), I am sure the State Department as well as the entire City of Washington, D.C. is eager about the outcome. I certainly hope he has a safe and successful journey. Best regards, Blande CB/eh Claude Bekins Mr. John D. Ehrlichman The White House Washington, D.C.
