    "ocrText": "- 3 -\nJamaica\nIt is suggested that Vincent DeRoulet be appointed\nAmbassador to Finland as indicated above.\nI recommend that the post of Ambassador to Jamaica\nbe offered to Lloyd Miller, a strong supporter in\n1968, whose resume is attached at Tab D.\nApprove\nP\nDisapprove\nSee Me\nJapan\nI have recently sent you a memorandum re the\nAmbassadorship to Japan, a copy of which is\nattached at Tab E.\nMalta\nBecause of political considerations, both Kissinger\nand the State Department agree that John Pritzlaff\nbe withdrawn and replaced by a career officer. The\nState Department recommends that John Getz be\nnominated for the post as indicated in Secretary Rogers'\nI\nmemorandum to you attached at Tab F.\nKissinger\nopposes Getz on the grounds of not being sufficiently\nstrong.\nApprove\nDisapprove\nSee Me\nNetherlands\nBill Middendorf has indicated a desire to resign about\nJune 1, 1972, in order to return to the United States\nto assist in fund raising for the campaign. I suggested\nto Middendorf that he resign as of January 1, 1972, in\norder to make this post available for one year in your\nfirst term. Because of problems relating to his children's\nschooling, Middendorf would prefer to serve through\n1972 rather than leave earlier then mid-April.\nSpain\nBob Hill plans to resign at year end with the announcement\nscheduled for late November.\nC. V. Whitney has been assured that he will be appointed\nAmbassador to Madrid."
