CONGRESSMAN DONALD RUMSFELD
THE WHITE HOUSE
MONDAY, APRIL 21, 1969
THE PRESIDENT:
9:15
At 9:30 a.m. Congressman Donald Rumsfeld will be escorted
to your office for a brief informal discussion prior to the announcement.
At approximately 9:35 a.m. you and the Congressman will be escorted
to the steps of the Rose Garden where a single stand-up microphone
will be provided for your use.
NOTE:
In case of inclement weather the announcement
would take place in the Roosevelt Room.
You will then announce that you are appointing Congressman
Rumsfeld to be Director of the Office of Economic Opportunity within
the Executive Office of the President. It is suggested that you also
make brief remarks.
It is estimated that your entire participation will be of
approximately 15 minutes duration.
NOTE:
There will be press coverage and suggested
remarks have been prepared for your use.
