Arrive New Delhi
21-Gun Salute
As you descend the stairs of Air Force One, you
will be greeted by Mr. Prithi Singh, Chief of
Protocol, who will introduce you to:
M. Hidayatullah, President of India (Acting)
Mrs. Hidayatullah
Indira Gandhi, Prime Minister
Hans Raj Gupta, Mayor of New Delhi
Mrs. Gupta
Dinesh Singh, Minister of External Affairs
Kenneth B. Keating, U.S. Ambassador
NOTE: The Mayor of Delhi will greet you in the
traditional Indian manner by placing a garland
of flowers around your neck. You can remove the
garland immediately and hand it to anyone close.
Proceed to Salute Base. The Guard of Honor will
present arms and the National Anthems of the U.S.
and India will be played. Upon completion, the
Guard of Honor will shoulder arms and come to
attention.
Inspection of Honor Guard. The inspection will be
limited to the front rank only and the party will move
from left to right.
When the inspection is complete, the Honor Guard
Commander will salute. You can acknowledge by
nodding your head. Prithi Singh will escort you to
the VIP Enclosure and introduce members of the Indian
Cabinet and other Indian dignitaries (approximately 20).
