THE PRESIDENT:

At 5:00 p.m. you, Mrs. Nixon, and Miss Tricia Nixon will be
jump
escorted down the Grand Staircase and into the East Room through
the North Door.
NOTE:
You will be announced, but there will be no
Ruffles and Flourishes and no "Hail to the Chief. 11
There will be a platform at the North end of the room with a stand-up
microphone provided for you. You, Mrs. Nixon, and Tricia will
proceed to the platform, where you will make brief rema rks.
NOTE:
Brief remarks have been prepared for your use
and are attached.
After you have finished your remarks, it is suggested that you and
Mrs. Nixon and Tricia may wish to remain at the reception and mingle
informally with your guests for awhile. You will then be escorted
upstairs to the Family Quarters of the Residence.
NOTE:
This is a Christmas Open House for members of
the White House staff and their wives. The hours
are from 4:00-6:00 p.m.
NOTE:
The Madrigal Singers from Einstein High School,
Montgomery County, Maryland, will be singing in
the State Dining Room.
Forty children, ages 8-18, from "The Singing Angels",
Cleveland, Ohio, will be singing in the East Room
Santa Claus will be situated on the landing of the Grand'
Staircase.
