"AMERITO" (acronym for "American Italian Organizations"), an
umbrella organization for 12 Italian-American groups, is sponsoring
a Columbus Day Dinner in conjunction with the Knights of Columbus.
The dinner will be attended by approximately 1100 people representing
labor, industrial and Italian organizations from the United States and
Canada. Some of the dignitaries present and seated at the head table
include Secretary and Mrs. Volpe, Ambassador and Mrs. Ortona,
Supreme Knight of the Knights of Columbus John McDevitt, Mr. and
Mrs. George Meany, Congressman and Mrs. John Murphy (D-N. Y.),
Mr. and Mrs. Tom Marinelli (Tom is President of AMERITO) and
Mr. and Mrs. Peter Fosco.
The principal focus of the dinner is to honor Mr. Peter Fosco, General
President, Laborers International Union of North America, AFL-CIO,
by presenting him with the AMERITO Man of the Year Award. His
principal accomplishment is that he built the fourth largest labor union
in the construction industry.
Your participation will be to drop by the dinner during dessert, while
the Marine Band is playing, present the award to Mr. Fosco, listen to
his brief remarks, deliver your remarks and then depart before the
formal program begins.
