THE PRESIDENT HAS SEEN . THE WHITE HOUSE WASHINGTON VISIT TO THE DEPARTMENT OF STATE FOR LUNCHEON AND VIEWING OF FOREIGN SERVICE PLAQUE Tuesday, March 6, 1973 12:50 P.M. THE PRESIDENT: BACKGROUND: You have accepted Secretary Rogers' invitation to attend a working luncheon with other high State Department officials. It will take place in the Jefferson Room at the State Department. A complete list of attendees is at Tab A. Suggested luncheon talking points are at Tab B. After the luncheon, Secretary Rogers will escort you to the lobby, where you may view the new American Foreign Service Association Memorial Plaque. It is a new 6-foot bronze plaque that is similar to an older one located on the opposite wall of the lobby. Both plaques carry the names of those people who have served their country and given their lives while in the Foreign Service. This is an opportunity for you to offer remarks about such service. (Suggested remarks at Tab C). A large crowd is expected in the lobby. It will consist of Foreign Service Association members and other State Department employees. SEQUENCE OF EVENTS: 12:50 p.m. Depart South Driveway via motorcade en route State Department. 12:55 p.m. Arrive Secretary's Entrance (garage level). Secretary Rogers will meet and escort you via elevator to the Jefferson Room on the 8th floor. The luncheon participants (Tab A) will be pre-positioned.
