BACKGROUND:
Tonight you will attend the dinner at the Beverly Hilton Hotel
honoring Director John Ford where you will present him with
the Medal of Freedom. He will also receive the first annual
American Film Institute Award for lifetime achievement in
films. Charlton Heston is Chairman of the AFI and will act as
Master of Ceremonies.
Prior to the dinner, John Wayne is hosting a reception for 150
people honoring you, Mrs. Nixon and the Fords. John Ford has
requested to attend only the last 5 minutes of this reception
because of the night's strenuous activities. Attendees at TAB A.
There will be 55 minutes of personal time at the hotel prior to
the reception and dinner. Dress is Black Tie.

Mrs. Nixon will accompany you throughout the evening's events.
