Okun gives it a solid "B. 11 In an upcoming tour of the nation, Grayson
and staff must correct public misunderstandings that were "needlessly
created in the rush" to get the program going. Okun says "many were
led to expect too much and now they'are convinced that Uncle Sam is
not living up to his commitment. 111 But Time says the economy will
be much better off if the controls are retained as long as necessary.
In a US News interview, Pay Bd. member Virgil Day downplays
the talk of disunity and delay on the Board saying "it is beginning
to operate in a coherent manner
There is an atmosphere of realism
and we are trying to function as a unit. 11 He sees no chance Labor will
walk out and he praises both Boldt's tolerance and competence. Day
says it'll be 6 months before we can tell if RN's objectives will be
reached but Day is optimistic.
