MEMORANDUM
THE WHITE HOUSE
WASHINGTON
February 2, 1972
ADMINISTRATIVELY CONFIDENTIAL
MEMORANDUM FOR:
CHUCK COLSON
FROM:
BRUCE KEHRLI
BOLL
SUBJECT:
Ashbrook Candidacy
The February 1, 1972 News Summary contained the following
paragraph:
- HE (Human Events) said Ashbrook's candidacy
already has paid off in "concrete concessions from
the WH": 1) Veto of the "wildly radical child
development bill"; 2) Warm praise for the Vice
President on the Rather interview; 3) RN's fresh
interest in defense spending. - -
It was noted that the above was absolutely wrong and it should
be countered immediately.
This the type of little lie that cannot be left standing - - it only
contributes to the myth that the President is totally political.
Please forward a report on action taken to counter this statement
-- including any results by February 9, 1972.
Thank you.
