The Major stories of the day:

Tension is at a fever pitch in N. Ireland as incensed Catholics con-
tinue protest in form of strike, violence and physical attack by 5 feet
of Irish fury in person of Bernadette Devlin upon 6 feet of British re-
serve in person of Reginald Maulding. Lead on all nets with clear
sympathy for Catholic civil rights protesters.

In the biggest number of strikes against the North in one day since
'68, 5 US planes attacked anti-aircraft defenses in NVN 5 times.
US troops in VN down to 136, 000, thus again beating RN's rate.
Westy predicts a Tet worse than 169, '70 or '71 but not as bad as
168 and he says NVA will take heavy casualties.
NVN reveals its
secret 9-point plan calling for immediate US pullout and a neutral
GVN now.
Very grim situation in Cambodia and it's deteriorating
in Laos, say nets.
Cambodia reportedly wants to talk peace with
NVN.
Reasoner with less than positive commentary on RN's peace

NBC/CBS film of NVN's Le presenting the heretofore secret 9-point
plan. After report, Chancellor said it was clear both US and NVN secret
plans were very close to those in public view. ABC noted the NVN pro-
posal was dominated by emphasis on total and immediate US withdrawal
and an end to backing of Thieu. Hanoi said all prisoners could be released
