MEMORANDUM
THE WHITE HOUSE
WASHINGTON
October 25, 1972
ADMINISTRATIVELY CONFIDENTIAL
MEMORANDUM FOR:
MR. BILL TIMMONS
FROM:
BRUCE KEHRLI
BOX
SUBJECT:
Letter to Senator Cook
The October 25 News Summary contained the following note:
-- Sen. Cook returned from his Asian tour on RN's
behalf and estimated it caused 70, 000-80, 000 to
obtain absentee ballots and estimated RN would
get 85%. He was encouraged by enthusiasm at
the rallies. Cook bristled when asked if trip was
worthwhile as he missed the Senate's closing days.
"To get people to participate in democracy is just
as important as voting on the floor, ",,he said. --
Referring to the above, it was requested that a letter of thanks
be sent from the President to Senator Cook.
Please forward this letter, after coordinating it with Ray Price,
to the Office of the Staff Secretary for signature by October 27.
