News Summary Note
The President noted the following in his October 25 News Summary
and indicated on the page a "well done. 11
--SF Chronicle article, which includes photo of Cox
with elderly, says Ed took RN's advice to campaign
very hard to heart as he toured several CRP offices
and still found time to shake hands and chat w/400
elderly. Cox hailed the way the elderly helped
support their senior citizens center thru rummage
sales and handicrafts, and story notes he shared
one of RN's favorite dinner-table stories w/them and
a tribute to spirit of the elderly. Ed told how RN was
trying to boost his mother's spirits after surgery and
told her "Now, Mother, don't you give up, 11 to which
Hannah Nixon replied quickly, "Now, Richard, don't
you give up. 11 --
