NBC however, had 2 routine reports on ICCS move into field. Positive HKS commentary on progress being made - - progress not anticipated in immediate ceasefire postmortems. - - All nets noted post-war VN conference of 12 nations plus Waldheim will begin in Paris Feb. 26. CBS w/film from a VC-controlled area of happy kids and VC who "hate" GIs welcoming the reporter. NBC w/film of GIs coming home ABC/NBC film of mine-sweeping device which will soon be used in NVN waters. And NBC film on reported progress in secret Laotian talks. -- Scott/Ford on ABC/NBC film as they "hurled challenge" (CBS) by WH back at Hill and warned of RN vetoes to maintain ceiling. Hill showed no sign of surrender, said CBS, which then had film of Mahon, Patman, Proxmire, Byrd, EMK and Ervin "venting their anger. 11 There was a peep from Sneed but nothing else on CBS from Admin spokesmen. NBC, besides Ford/ Scott, had Muskie going after Sneed. ABC w/best balance of nite -- Ford/Scott and HHH vs. Stein. NBC's Duke sees no compromise now in sight on the spending fight. -- NBC film of Hussein w/RN. ABC noted meeting in longer report on Mordan.
