Attorneys for an estimated 16, 000 Detroit residents filed a
$65 M suit against HUD, charging it approved sales on 1000s of
"substandard, defective homes" that failed to meet fed. housing laws.
House passed 392-2 a l-year extension of funding authorization
for the Admin-backed Solid Waste Disposal Law at the present
$239 M level.
Ervin told Hill to stand up for its constitutional powers or "we
may preside over the funeral of our system of govt. 11 He said recent
Supreme Court decisions and exec. actions pose a grave threat to
Hill, and he cited Court decisions in immunity cases involving
Gravel and Brewster.
