Gov't informer Zelmanowitz on ABC/NBC film told Jackson's
Comm. that convicted mobster DeCarlo is out free on RN-
commutation while Justice has failed to provide the protection
it promised to the man who was key witness in trial and
Zelmanowitz says he's fearful of Mafia vengeance.
RN HEALTH
RN cut his work schedule sharply. Bhutto's state visit
postponed til Sept, noted ABC/NBC.
No indication the illness
...
was worsening, noted NBC/ABC. Rather said pain in chest is
away from heart and nothing more or less than viral penumonia.
All nets noted RN taking inhalation and massage therapy and that
RN had but 4 hours of sleep Thurs. Tkach on CBS told of analgesic
given RN.
ABC/NBC noted RN's 101-102 temperature.
Dr. Katz on ABC said viral pneum. can be mild and treatable at
home to very severe and incapacitating -- RN is "moderately ill"
and belongs in hospital.
ABC film w/RN-Scheel as Kaplow said only a few persons knew
RN wasn't feeling well then. NBC said RN had insisted on keeping
his appts. Herb noted RZ said RN would do essential work --
policy-making and bill signing, but the degree of that seems uncertain
w/doctors wanting him to hold back while RN wants to work more
and Tkach says you don't overrule the Pres
Noting PN, Julie
and David visited and said nothing to press on leaving, Valeriani
said other visitors were limited.
ABC/CBS noted (CBS w/Katz
on film) that there'll be period of 2 weeks or SO that RN won't feel
up to par after he leaves hospital. Katz called it a "malaise";
ABC's Bergman said RN would be in hospital 10 days or more.
Jarriel noted that Tkach said "maybe yes, maybe no" when
asked if stress on RN was related to illness.
ABC's Bergman
said categorically that illness hits persons who are overworked,
rundown or under stress and who work in closed surroundings.
Many have it w/out treatment -- thus it's called walking pneumonia.
