Promising full investigation, Cannon said it'll take panel about 2 weeks to begin hearings. AP leads: "1 day after nomination, Ford had enough votes pledged to him for confirmation by both House and Senate. 11 AP survey showed 223 House members express intention to vote for Ford. In Senate, Ford had 56 votes. NBC/CBS film noted Ford's arrival at Hill where he met w/Scott, Mansfield, Albert and "every step of way" reiterated he wouldn't be candidate in '76. Ford said nothing was wrong w/health and he doesn't believe anything's wrong w/record. Ford said questions raised about '70 campaign contributions are only thing he knows about that'll be gone into fully "and it should be gone into fully. " Star reports in '72 Ford's campaign got nearly half of its money, $38,000, from DC fund- raising comm that kept names of donors secret under loophole before new disclosure law took effect. NBC noted. After accepting congrats from House colleagues, Ford went to WH for intell briefing on M-E from RN, HAK, and Haig. Both nets w/film. Noting foreign policy isn't Ford's strong point, NBC said RN promised him "crash course. 11 RN on CBS film (silent NBC clip) said Ford will immediately begin receiving daily intell briefings and will participate in all meetings of Cabinet and NSC.
