Star's Taylor reports Judiciary staff will be ready to begin
presentment of its case by May 1 - - regardless of whether RN
complies w/ additional Comm requests, e. g. 42 tapes. Jenner's
quoted by Rhodes as saying presentment would take 6 weeks, thus
bring impchmnt to House floor by mid-June.
CBS AM interview w/Rodino who said tape quality isn't all
that bad, but it' s tedious and difficult to listen to them w/headphones
for more than 2 hrs. He said discussions continue w/JSC and he has
every reason to believe Comm will get what has been requested.
He emphasized JSC interest in negotiating and that that there's never
been a flat refusal from WH.
Rodino does not see himself being part of any deal re: tapes.
And he said JSC's requests are also being considered. Rodino said
he's not inflexible and Comm. wants to be fair and reasonable.
