for this year. Nat'l Comm for Health Ins. bill would pay for all health
care, not just focus on catastrophic and it'd cost $80B compared to
$40B in Admin and EMK bills. On NBC film, Woodcock said public
feels health care is a "right" deserving of universal system and his
group would prefer nothing to loss of universality.
CBS saw labor
leaders waiting to push til next year when they hope for friendlier
Hill.
Both CBS/NBC contrasted remaining Admin/EMK diffs. Cost
would be same -- 1% of income -- but Admin is voluntary compared to
compulsory EMK provision. Admin deductible is $450 compared to
$300. Major illness covered above $1500 by Admin; $1000 by EMK-
Mills, Private industry handles Admin program; govt runs EMK-
Mills and, noted NBC, Admin says it won't compromise on its approach
which would channel $37B to private firms. CBS noted fear by insur.
companies of EMK-Mills bill.
Psychology Today reports studies on how sugar pills, or placeboes,
are 56% as effective as morphine and 54% as effective as aspirin when
given as painkiller. Additionally, very large brown or purple sugar
pills, or tiny bright red or yellow ones, are more effective than other
color and size combinations. Patient responds better if placebo
has an unpleasant taste, and a placebo injection gets better results
than an oral dose.
