    "ocrText": "-2-\nDC: About October 10 the people will really be listening to politics.\nDon't save anything. Forget the writing press -- go after the tube.\nThe radical liberal thing is right. The Johnnie-come-lately theme\nhas gotten through; when 127 Democrats pass a resolution worrying\nabout demonstrators, that shows they are pretty worried. They\nnever worried about that with Humphrey.\nDC: The tempo is right. The main mistake you could make is to try\nto satisfy the national press. Don't be afraid to make the same speech.\nThe one-liners you are using at the beginning are going over well.\nDC: Be prepared to blast the Scranton Commission Report. They\nare at least four months out of tune. Seventy-eight per cent of the\npeople think college administrators are too soft. Hit the faculties,\nnot the students. Also, there are plenty of young people who would\nlike to have a chance to go to college who cannot go now. Force\nthe Democrats to defend the Scranton Report. Be uncompromising\nand tough. We're right, because we have resisted some of the\noverly tough stuff. I worked out myself a much more specific\napproach: Anybody who bombs or burns a Federally-assisted\ninstitution faces Federal prosecution.\nV raised subject of speaking to union leadership Monday and H\nspelled out reservations.\nDC: Rank and file more important than fat cats. Walk into a plant\none day. Stop the motorcade. Identify with them. Be late for a\nmeeting. Any time you can get on TV with a warm thing like that is\nworthwhile. Another thing: Take a walk. Great TV. It's true you\nare the cutting edge, but also let them see the warm, human man.\nDon't appeal just to the people at $500-a-plate dinners. Don't let\nthe Secret Service get in the way of the photo car.\nV: Army base?\nDC: Do it. And just for the ducks of it, you might pop onto a campus --\ncompletely unplanned. I would go for color in the next two weeks and\nthe hard stuff in the last three. Be unpredictable.\nQuestion raised of both out of the city of Washington at same time. V\nsuggested we not get defensive. DC agreed but added that it be\npointed out how V stays in close touch."
