SUBJECT:
Late Breaking Questions
1. Is Chuck Colson under consideration for RNC Chairman?
2. Will Tricia become engaged over the holidays or in the
near future?
3. Does the transfer of DIA to Laird, plus the public admissions
on the part of ex-DIA personnel indicate to you that spying
on public officials did indeed take place.
Suggested answer: "Snooping on private individuals has not
been, is not now, and will not be the policy of this Administration;
the shift of DIA directly under Mr. Laird is an administrative
change which we have felt for some time is consistent with
the national belief in supremacy of the civilian in matters of
defense. 11
4. Does Hanoi's dropping of its insistence on a coalition government
advance the cause of a negotiated peace?
