COPY April 7, 1958 Membel Dear Mendel: I wish to express my appreciation for your letter of March 21 in which you inquire into the possibility of extending an official invitation to Prime Minister Ben Gurion of Israel to visit the United States. Your suggestion is an appropriate and friendly demonstration of international goodwill between the United States and Israel. However, State Visits by heads of foreign governments are arranged long in advance after consideration of a number of factors, and I am informed that the schedule of official visits for 1958 is so heavy that it is not possible to consider any additions. Iregret, therefore, that it is not possible at this time to adopt your thoughtful suggestion. With all best wishes, Transactions? Sincerely, Db Affairs Richard Nixon Mr. Mendel B. Silberberg (larrel) Mitchell, Silberberg and Knupp 6399 Wilshire Boulevard Los Angeles 48, California dreathered
