Dear Jim:
A quickie to tell you how much Inge and I enjoyed seeing
you and Sally the other night, as well as to thank you for all
your efforts regarding the Disney Medal ceremony. I hope the
family was pleased with the outcome -- all of us here thought it
went fine.
I'm enclosing a copy of a tape of the President's remarks
in the State Dining Room -- I've also sent copies to Roy O. and
Ron Miller. I would hope that you might run off a dupe for Bill
Cottrell, as I knew he would love one.
I also suggested to Ron that film can be obtained I'm sure,
using the Disney clout, from any of the networks. (You would
probably want all three in order to fill in the down time.)
I will send you a complete set of prints of the photos that
the White House photographer made -- should have those very soon.
O.K. that's a quickie. MIC See you real soon! KEY

A note to say how good it was to see you and the rest
of the Disney family here at the White House. I hope all
were pleased with the ceremony as well as the overall visit
In Washington.
I have enclosed a tape of the President's remarks at
the ceremony -- I also sent one to Roy O. and suggested
that someone put it close to the words that President Eisen-
hower recorded upon Welt's passing. (I also have a tape of
that should you want a copy).
If you want film of the White House ceremony, I'm sure
you can obtain it from any of the networks -- hope you still
have some clout with either ABC or NBC! I will also send you
prints of the stills that the White House photographer made as
soon as I get them.
Again, Ron, 'twas good seeing all of you. Hope to get
caught up on Studio, WED and Retlaw activity sometime when

White House

Dear President Nixon:
It is past time you now take stock of our accomplishments
since January 1st.
Since the Republicans have taken over the White House and
many other National offices, we can't see much improvement.
Our cost of living has taken a big jump. We are still at
War. Our problems at home haven't improved.
It is past time we start to cut government cost, have peace
in our land and improve conditions at home. Time is running
out if our form of government is to survive. Start now to
cut the cost of operating the Government and stop now trying
to provide so many services as we can't continue to increase
taxes.

Dear Mr. President:
Reference is made to the telegram which you sent to
General Corderman, President of the Retired Officers Asso-

gram: "Retired military personnel have been unjustly
treated because of the failure of Congress to remedy the
growing disparity between active duty and retired military
pay
I intend to urge the Congress to remedy this
injustice at the earliest possible time 11
I wish to take this opportunity to thank you for your
support for congressional legislation to correct the injust-
ice of the growing disparity between active duty and retired
military pay.
I respectfully urge you to take timely action to carry
out the pledge made in the telegram before it gets too late
for Congress to remedy this injustice in the current session.

Enclosed are two semi-filled petitions from Walt
Whitman high school. They were overlooked when the
other petitions were mailed.
Do not think, that just because there are very
few signatures enclosed, that these are all. The
other petitions were large in number, signed by over
one-half of the student body.
The reason that I am sending these few signatures
is simple. Each one is a person, expressing their
ideas. No person should be overlooked.
I thank you for your time.

Dear Ron:
It was a great pleasure and a most memorable experience
for Sally and me to be able to spend some time with you
and Nancy at the White House. We share the same delight
over your success in Washington that you expressed
regarding our marriage.
Our entire trip to Washington will always have a very
special place in our memory.
Please, also, accept my thanks for the tremendous assis-
tance and support given to the Disney family by everyone
on your staff. Roy Disney was delighted to meet you and
your recollection of the Jungle River cruise narration
truly thrilled him.
The gold medal ceremony could not have been more taste-
fully done, and I know that members of the family will
personally express their thanks to the President, Bob
Haldeman and other members of the staff.
I hope that Sally and I will be able to see you again
soon, either in Washington or on the west coast.
Kindest personal regards,
Jim Stewart

Hon. Richard M. Nixon
President
United States of America
Washington D.C.
Dear President Nixon:
As a college student, 18 years of age, I have been terribly
troubled about America's involvement in the Viet Nam War. From
a personal point of view, I am troubled because it may mean
that my brother, my cousins, and my friends may have to fight
a war in which most of us find it very difficult to become
emotionally or patriotically involved.
It is my humble opinion, from what I have read in the
newspapers and heard on television, that the United States has
nothing to gain by any further participation in this war. Our
national security is in no way endangered. Throughout my
education, I was taught to have a firm belief in democracy. I
believe that the Vietnamese have a right to choose whatever
government they wish, of course through genuine democratic
means. I approve of the policy of immediate withdrawal of
American soldiers.
I appeal to you, as President of the United States, to
order an immediate withdrawal and heed the demands, the wishes,
the prayers of my generation, who are the ones who are doing
the fighting and the dying.
Sincerely,
Jo Beth Walt
