EXECUTIVE FG6-11-1/Kleen, WH2-1 Herbert June 5, 1973 FG100 MEMORANDUM FOR: MR. CLEM CONGER QURATOR WHITE HOUSE FROM: WANDA M. PHELAN RE: Elephant Painting I understand that you are familiar with the background of the large elephant oil painting which was commissioned by the Safari Club of Washington for President Nixon. Since Mr. Klein will be leaving, we would like to move the painting before someone kicks a hole in it. The one area which is yet unsolved -- Ed Blecksmith, who was working on this for our staff, left several weeks ago -- is whether or not Dr. Carl Jonas received a letter of thanks from the President. If he hasn't, I am going to put together enough so that one can be done. The picture is on the way, if it hasn't preceeded this memorandum! $ HK/WP/prb RECEIVED JUN 61973 CENTRAL Flee
