A long time since Hollister and Frank Murphy's campaign
for the Assembly---good memories!
Wilma and I will be i'n Washington in January for the
inauguration. Of course, we plan to take in the parade,
swearing in and other public functions, but we would
appreciate it very much if you would le us know the
proceedure for getting into a "special" event or two.
Any assistance or suggestions would be appreciated.
We're still in Modesto. I'm features editor of the
Modesto Bee, and travel and entertainment writer for
all three Bees. This trip, though, is strictly for
fun. We're combining Washington with a few days with
friends in New York.

I couldn't have been more over-joyed at the result of the
election. I am confident that the President will enjoy a
successful second term, provided he can retain his long
time aides, such as yourself.
At the moment, I am disconcerted and perplexed with the
Treasury Department's tax reform proposals. I am sure that
you are kept busy with respect to digesting this material.
Darlene and I and two other couples have confirmed our travel
arrangements for the Inaugural. Darlene and I arrive at
Dulles in the late afternoon on Thursday, January 17, 1985
and are scheduled to leave the Washington area in the after-
noon on Tuesday, January 22nd. We hold confirmed reserva-
tions at the Gramacy Hotel.
If you recall, during President Reagan's first inaugural, we
traveled in a party with Tommy Walker and the Osmond family.
Unfortunately, we will not be so lucky this time. We are
in the process of attempting to determine the most efficient
manner to obtain tickets to the various events. I was pleased
to note your appointment of the Chairman of the Inaugural
Committee and could think of no better person to ask for ad-
vice and suggestions concerning the purchase of tickets. I
would appreciate whatever guidance you can provide, since at
the moment, I have no sources for tickets.
As we have both mentioned several times, it would be a welcome
opportunity if we could possibly get together during our Wash-
ington visit. I recognize that with your normal duties and
particularly with a view toward your responsibilities as the
Chairman of the Inauguration, your time must be very precious.
However, if we could make some arrangement to meet, I would
