Jesse Jackson in making participation of Black Americans in the political areaa at the highest level is an accomplishment that all Americans will benefit from. I am concerned and alarmed that the protection of Secret Service security has been withdrawn from Rev. Jackson, particularly in light of the many threats on his life during the campaign. I do not believe there is sufficient evidence to warrant such withdrawal and believe that Jackson's accomplishments will remain an important victory for most and, unfortunately, a threatening victory to those in our society who are driven by sickness to threaten assassination. Such an occurence would be a national shame from which it would take years and perhaps generations to recover. I urge you, as a taxpayer, to ex tend Secret Service protection to Rev. Jackson at least until the national election is over. If for any reason you do not find this a reasonable action, I am interested in knowing your rationale. Sincerely, Katherine Skelton-Caban Fred Fieds 250539 we 42 Furman Street Schenectady, New York 12304 ? July 29, 1984 Dear President Reagan: I am writing to express my concern that secret service protection has been withdrawn from Rev. Jesse Jackson. Both during and after his campaign for the Democratic nomination, he received numerous threats to his life. I believe that the achievement for all Black Americans made by Rev. Jackson should not be threatened with assassination. Please restore protection to his life -- an assassination of this man whom has come to represent hone for Black Americans would be a blot of our generation and country that would stain our image badly. Sincerely, Victor Caban Victor Caban HOLD PER RAH 8/9 call in Watman- How is DOT responds to setters ?
