II. BACKGROUND AND TALKING POINTS

the great grandson of David Barchrach, the founder of the
family firm of Bachrach Photographers. The company has been
closely involved with almost all of the great events of the
foremost families in the social world, particularly New York,
Boston, Newport and Philadelphia.
The historical involvement of the Bachrach Family with the
twenty two President's and other important families of
Eastern Society.

PORTRAIT SESSION WITH YUSEF KARSH
DATE:
Tuesday, January 5, 1982
M.B
LOCATION: Oval Office
TIME:
3:45 p.m.
I. PURPOSE
Photographic Portrait Session with the President
II. BACKGROUND AND TALKING POINTS
The President has sat for Karsh at least twice to my knowledge,
once while Governor of California, and once while President-
elect.
Karsh is probably the single most famous photographer in the
world today. (This is because Yusef is a better self-promoter
than an photographer.) However, Karsh has over the years done
the definitive portraits of Winston Churchill , Ernest Hemingway,
Georgia O'Keefe, Robert Frost, Pablo Casals amongst others.
Karsh is notorious for taking more time than he has been given
for his sessions.
