To the Students of C. M. Russell High School:
Your Student Body President, Mike Jennings pre-
sented me with your gifts -- the very beautiful
painting and the Charles Russell book. I know
he has probably told you (I asked him to) how
very much I appreciate your great kindness and
your friendship.
But sitting here at my desk in the Oval Office
looking at the message on the card signed by
your Student Body Officers and Senior Senate
Members, I felt the urge to also send a thank-
you.
I know something went wrong when I was in Great
Falls last autumn and the presentation you had
planned didn't take place. I'm happy that things
have been put right. Of course, it would have
been nicer if I could have come back to C. M.
Russell instead of you having to come to Washington.
But, again, my heartfelt thanks and best wishes to
you all.
