Dear Mr. President,
I doubt if you receive many letters such as this (and I
doubt if it will ever get by your staff to your busy eyes).
This is a cold rainy Sunday afternoon, I've made my
hospital rounds in our small rural hospital, the afternoon is
quiet, the rain is pelting the roof, there is a warm fire
glowing in our den, my wife and I are resting on the sofa with
our boxer puppy - God is in his heaven and all is right with the
world.
I simply wanted to write and thank you for the job you are
doing in these very difficult times. As a country doctor I am
well aware of the economic pulse of our country and I think you
are doing an admirable job. We all feel the pinch with
decreased or slow medical and medicare payments, we see many
patients who have difficulty paying their bills but most make
good in time - the pinch is there as overheadd remains - still
we are most fortunate of people.
I thank you for your steady hand on the tiller - our
economy is on the mend, our homes and family are safe well
fed and clothed. We worship the God of our choice, our life is
abundant even in tight times.
We stand behind you as a family as we did in your loss in
1976, your win in 1982, and I pray again in 1984.
You have kept the faith with us. Our country is safe,
strong and thanks to you becoming stronger. We are indeed most
fortunate this Sunday afternoon to have you at the helm and
simply wanted to let you know that we appreciate you.
