For your information, Mike Cobb has been active
in the YR's for several years, and has held several
offices in the organization, including Vice President
National Committeeman, and now President during 1969.
One of the political highlights of his administration
was the large number of YR's that turned out, due
mainly to Cobb's efforts, in the three state
legislative special elections. Cobb has been appointed
to head up Senator Murphy's re-election campaign in
Santa Clara County.

Subject: 2-18 Interview with
Dick Doughty, KRON
From :
Paul Beck
You will be interviewed at 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, February 18, for
one half hour by Dick Doughty of KRON-TV, the Chronicle station
in San Francisco.
He is producing and hosting a series of prime time, hour-long news
specials. The first in this series will be aired in March and will
deal with poverty in the Bay Area. The questions you will be asked
will generally deal with welfare, your views on the California wel-
fare recipient, the welfare trends and the general view of people
from other regions who come to California when they are down and out.
You may inject any general views you have on welfare.
Doughty points out that you are "well known for your defense of
Californians' financial trouble while at the same time urging
strong self effort on their part."
I think it will be a good opportunity to get across to the people,
particularly in the Bay Area, what welfare is costing.
