RE:
NOVEMBER 2 - - "FLY AROUND"
For the "Fly Around" on November 2, we will be using two
airplanes. The "lead" aircraft will be a small jet with the
following manifest:
Lt. Governor Reinecke
1 Reinecke Staff Member
Treasurer Priest
I Priest Staff Member
Bart Christensen
3 Security Men
The second aircraft is a chartered Continental Airlines DC-9.
The manifest for this airplane will include the Governor,
Senator Murphy, Controller Flournoy, Mr. Younger, Mr. J. Flournoy,
their allocated staff members, security and press.
Entertainers and celebrities for the rallies will be on the DC-9
at various times, but will generally travel independently of the
tour.
The tour will form at the Sheraton Inn (Toledo Room) in
San Diego at 8:00 AM. Breakfast and a light 1 unch will be
served on the primary aircraft. No breakfast will be served on
the lead aircraft; however, a box lunch will be provided.
The entire group will travel in a motorcade to Lindberg Field.
There will be a Rally there and photos of all candidates with
their spouse "waving good-bye". Those on the lead aircraft must
board at 8:50 AM and be airborne no later than 8:55 AM.
The lead plane is to arrive about fifteen minutes ahead of the
primary aircraft in each instance. All local candidates will
have been introduced in advance of that time. Lists of local
candidates, entertainers, and others on each platform will be

made available prior to departing San Diego. The Emcee will
introduce Mrs. Priest for very brief remarks. She, in turn,
will introduce Lt. Governor Reinecke for brief remarks.
On arrival of the DC-9, Lt. Governor Reinecke and Mrs. Priest
will remain on the platform. The local greeting committee will
be planeside. The Governor, Senator Murphy and the balance of
the Constitutional candidates will be escorted to the platform
where they will join Lt. Governor Reinecke and Mrs. Priest. All
candidates will pose for "team photos". Immediately upon
completion of these photos, Lt. Governor Reinecke will introduce
the first candidate to speak. The order of speaking will be
determined and announced at the earliest possible date.
After introducing the first speaker, Lt. Governor Reinecke and
Mrs. Priest board the lead aircraft and depart. The remaining
candidates will speak in order, with each introducing the
following. Time allocations will be announced concomitantly
with the speaking order.
This format will be followed in Sacramento, Fresno and
Hollywood-Burbank, except, of course, that Lt. Governor Reinecke
and Mrs. Priest will remain on the platform in Hollywood-Burbank.
In San Francisco, there will be a press conference rather than
a rally. At the conclusion of the press conference, it is
critical that the passengers in the lead plane board and depart
for Sacramento immediately.
At. the conclusion of the tour in Burbank (approximately 3:45 PM),
all members of the tour party are to make their own transporta-
tion arrangements. There will be transportation available to
those who wish to go to the Century Plaza Hotel. Advance
notification to my office is required (Phone: 213-660-2180).
