I understand that the State of California will have to bear the expense of the administration of this distribution. We taxpayers feel that there must be strict economy in government. I fear that if taxes continue to grow that there will be a tax- payers revolt. There is a limit to which real estate can be taxed. There is a point of no return and we are almost there. This giveaway from Washington should be stopped at once. I re- quest your co-operation in this matter. Very truly yours A. Mason Blodgett 2120 Redington Road AMB/b Hillsborough, Calif. SF-1201 (R5-69) December 12, 1970 The Honorable Ronald Reagan State Capitol Sacramento, Calif. 95814 Dear Govenor Reagan: Shortly, you will be ruling on the budget for the California Rural Legal Assistance. I, the undersigned, urge that you DO NOT approve this budget. In Imperial County the C.R.L.A. spends its time formenting unrest among the minorities, organizing protest movements and marches in support of jailed Ceasar Chavez, and filing law suits against government entities and public utilities. These projects cause considerable trouble in our community, widen the gap between ethnic groups, and benefit no one. It is high time to put a stop to the use of public funds to those organizations who continue to harass local government agencies. Locally, the Brawley Union High School, the City of Imperial and the Imperial Irrigation District have been forced to spend taxpayers money to defend themselves against accusations brought forth by C.R.L.A. The money, time and effort would be better spent on Community Develop- ment, rather than the approach which C.R.L.A. has chosen. Again, may I urge the State of California to discontinue its support of California Rural Legal Assistance and terminate its activity!! Donald Sincerely, J. Very truly yours, Leonard Leonard Cory Cosy Governor Reagan: I want to commend you on your veto of the California Eural Legal Assistance program. There should be no two branches of governement working for the same end. I think you are doing California a great service. Sincerely yours, Leonard Leonard Cory Cory PM 1970 90723 Hon. Ronald Reagan Governor of California State Capitol, Sacramento, California 95814 L Dear Mr. President: We strongly approve of our Governor Renald Reagan's vetoing the funding of the CRIA. These so called lawyers for the poor have constantly perverted the purpose for which they were established at taxpayer's expense. Instead of providing legal help to the individual needy poor and ignorant they have joined with all left wing causes in effectively attacking and destroying the institutions which form the foundations of this country. They and the other so called poverty lawyers throughout California have been instrumental in trying to destroy the private property rights guaranteed by the Constitution. These lawyers funded by O.E.O and H.E.W. must either be restricted to assisting the indiv- idual ignorant and poor or abolished. We taxpayers are sick and tired of paying the bill for these left- Y wing revolutionaries who intend to destroy our country. Sincerely, W.A. COUCH. ec/ Cov.
