MAX GANTMAN residing at San Diego, California, being forst
duly sworn, deposes and says:
I am an honorably discharged U. S. Soldier over the age
of twenty-one years. I have resided in the United States con-
tinuously since January 17th, 1914, and in the State of California
continuously since about May, 1916.
I am an honorably discharged soldier of the United States
Army and now exhibit my certificate of honorable discharge from
Convalescent Camp No. 1, Camp Kearny, Californka on January 22nd,
1919.
I made declaration of intention to become a citizen of
the United States on May 19th, 1916.
I am unable to prove five years continuous residence in
the United States.

We have known Max Gantman, a native of Russia and petitioner
for naturalization herein named since June lst, 1916 and Jure lst
1916 respectively, and know that since respective dates he has been
a resident of the United States continuously. We know that
he
is
the identical person named in the hénorable discharge certificate
from the United States Army, which he now exhibits. We vouch for
his lloyalty and good moral character, and recommend him in all
respects for citizenship.
