February 3, 1917. On February 1st, I visited the Sargent & Company of New Haven, Conn., with a letter to Mr. Zeigler Sargent written by Mr. Grannis. Mr. Sargent, I learned, is their credit man and not at all acquainted with the use of luminous material, SO he referred me to Mr. Cherry, General Sales Manager, the man that I saw about a year ago with an introduction from their New York Manager. Mr. Cherry is not very enthusiastic about the application of luminous material to their line, but finally consented to allow me to experiment with one of their expensive glass door knobs. It will be up to us to prove to Sargent that there is a call for luminous key holes and keys. This will be the biggest application in their line. Upon the suggestion of Mr. Cherry, I went to Hartford to see Mr. Hart of the Hart Mfg. Company, who was formerly a partner in the firm of Hart-Hegeman & Company. P. M. Willis,
