R.L.M.C. INTERIOR MEMORANDUM
Date 5/13/21
Subject
For Attention of Dr. Sochocky.
Answering Memo. of
Dear Doc:-
UNDARK REVISED GRADES.
The Sales Department recommends that we continue to use the
present letters to designate various grades of Undark, but omit a few
of the grades that are now listed but not used extensively, and also
revise the luminosity of one grade and slightly improve the luminosity
of one other.
D
If you can increase the quality of zinc SO that by using less
Radium we can have the same luminosity for certain grades as at present,
we would like to handle the shift that way. This would lower our costs
for Undark and make it unnecessary for us to disturb at present our prices
to the trade and all of the saving in cost will be added to our margins
instead of the original plan to divide this with our customers. We are
considering only one price influence which is to give a cash discount
instead of operating on our present terms of net thirty days. Of course
this discount will be a very small item, probably two per cent.
After the necessary experimental work, will you let us know the
amount of R. or M. required with the zinc to produce:a
A grade with luminosity equivalent to the present "D"

preferably coming fairly close to "L".
This cubs our number of grades to seven, but of course "D" is a small item
and would only be made up for special orders. We figuredthat "D" could be
eliminated, but there are certain customers who want this grade of luminosity
and are perfectly willing to pay for it.
Under present conditions of slack business, a change could be made
quite easily and if you can complete all the experimental work and whatever
may be necessary to prove out this program, we would like to make the new
schedule effective June 1st. If there is any further information that you
want from us, please let me know.
Yours truly,
- A. Roeder -
