June 15, 1921. Dr. s. A. Sochocky, 565 Central Av., East Orange, N.J. Dear Doc:- It was not my intention to neglect your note of June 8th, but 1 have been so tied up with work, including two daya spent in Boston lest week, that I have not been able to ese ler. Evarts and Mr. Cross until to-day. We held a directors' meeting to pass the resolution that you and I talked about yesterday, and while waiting for Mr. Strahan to arrive, I had an opportunity to talk to these gentlemen. Their feeling in the salary matter is just s.8 I thought it would be, namely, to cover a two nonthe' vacation. I am bappy to eay, therefore, that this has been released. Now, if not inconvenient to you, can I send you checks at the regular time for two monthe ? As you know, money ie fearfully tight and rather than experiencing any relief in the past month, thinge have grown worse, 80 that our ca.sh condition begins to approach a predicament. I felt surs enough that thie method would not inconvenience you to go ahead, since this is pay day, and a.kk Mr. Ross to make out your check in the usual way. A note arrived from Moriarta this morning about the 50 lig. He mentioned having seen you and I cannot determine clearly whether he vants to cancel his order or not. If you feel like it and have time to drop him a line, will you do BO ? At least "Papa" is vacillating at the moment and I think a note from you would help a lot. Bilstein came around to the Plant yesterday afternoon again and I told him that 1 understood your position parfestly and that it wae just what he and I had assumed the previoue day, I rlpo told him to go to work and do what he could in the laboratory until hearing frora you. It will be tremendously appreciated if you will act as soon a.8 you can on the resolution which Strahan will send you to-day or at latest to-moTrow 80 that I can get Bilstein working on the revised grades. Do not forget to call me up when you are in New Xork 80 that we can go to the Village for an hour or 80 together. Youre truly, AR/HM
